La Comisión Europea ha formulado una propuesta discriminatoria e injustificada, tanto en los aspectos relativos al arranque de viñedos como por el tratamiento que da a determinadas prácticas antienológicas, como la adición de azúcar al vino, conocida como chaptalización, que privilegia claramente los intereses de la Europa del Norte y del Centro, dejando en clara de ventaja a lo viticultores mediterráneos.
